According to the Spanish newspaper AS, New Real Madrid coach Zinedine Zidane has asked President Florentino Perez to make Juventus midfielder Paul Pogba his first Galactico signing.
Pogba has been strongly linked with a move to Barcelona for over a year now, whose representatives Ariedo Braida and Albert Soler held discussions last July with Juventus counterparts Giuseppe Marotta and Fabio Paratici.
But Barca were unable to agree on a price for French midfielder and with his transfer fee expected of over €100 million that might be too rich for the current European Champions.
This is one of those deals that actually makes sense for both teams. Madrid already have Ronaldo, Gareth Bale, Karim Benzema, James Rodriguez and Isco in its attacking ranks, so adding someone like Chelsea Eden Hazard would just be more of the same.
Pogba on the other hand can do it all. Not only is he an imposing physical specimen, he’s a supreme technician, rapid across the ground and capable of conjuring moments of genius.
Pogba is also more switched-on defensively than many give him credit for, and this season at Juventus he’s proven he can assume the role of the team’s talisman.
As for Juventus, they have made very few mistakes in the transfer market in recent years. Now with €100m to spend, they coudl bring in three or four top quality players that would allow then to maintain their statue as the best team in Italy through the rest of the decade.
Do you think Pogba ends up in Madrid or Barcelona next season?
