Roma is the most successful club in Italian history other than the “Big Three” of Inter, Juventus and Milan. It has won three Serie A titles, and its 00/01 championship season constitutes the last time a team outside the “Big Three” ended the season on top of the league table. It has also won nine Coppa Italia titles, tying it with Juventus for the most.

Recently, Roma has been a force to be reckoned with and its Coppa Italia win and 2nd place league finish last year surprised many observers. Roma’s success can largely be attributed to ITA National Team star Totti, who has become a legend to the fans at Stadio Olimpico. This year has been a step backwards though, and they need to finish strong.

American Sports Doppleganger:

Roma has always been a strong side and finished near the top of the table, but they have only managed to win the big trophy three times. Since their miracle 2001 run, they have settled for 2nd several times. Thus, they remind me of the NFL’s Indianapolis Colts, who have been one of the best teams for years, but only have one recent title.
