Today we continue with our series on the greatest players who played in the Serie A and we profile the outstanding goalkeeper Dino Zoff.
Born on February 28th 1942, Zoff is one of Italy’s legends. He started his early club career at Udinese and Mantova before moving to Napoli in 1967. It was Napoli that provided him with the platform to break into the national team. He earned his first cap in April 1968 against Bologna.
In that same year he helped Italy win the European Nations Cup. His outstanding form in goal made sure that between 1972 and 1974, he went 1,143 minutes without conceding a goal.
His retirement opened yet another door for him. This time albeit as a coach with the same club. He won the Uefa Cup again in 1990 before moving to Lazio in that same capacity. In 1998, he was named coach of the Italian national side.
