Serie A Clubs Spend Over €600m In Transfer Window

serie-a-logoWhat financial crisis in Serie A? After years of free transfers and loan deals, the league has started to invest heavily once again as it starts to shake off the financial turmoil that has plagued the national game in recent years.

In terms of spending across Europe’s top five leagues, Serie A’s €600 million spend is second only to the English Premier League.

According to Gazzetta Dello Sport, Juventus as expected spent the most money this summer with a net spend of over €120 million followed by the two Milanese clubs with Inter’s investments reaching over €100 million while AC Milan‘s total is close to the €90 million mark.

The increased spend by the two Milan sides, who are not in Europe this season, meant that Serie A was the only one of the top five leagues where the clubs not in Europe spent more than the clubs who are in Europe.
