One of the finest Slovakian footballers in the world, Marek Hamsik was the leading scorer this most recent weekend scoring two goals for Napoli against struggling Siena. Hamsik, an attacking midfielder, was responsible for the first goal which took the lead for the club then later in the second half Hamsik would score the game winner on a penalty shot follow up. Hamsik has been a reliable player for Napoli and in his only two years with the squad he has led the team in goals both years. With 18 goals over the two season span, Hamsik might finally achieve the double digit summit this season.
It is not often that an entire club makes the honor of Top Performer, but this last weekend Sampdoria showed fans of Serie A football everywhere that they deserve to be at the top of the Serie A table. Sampdoria, who was the preseason SATO projected club to win Most Improved Squad, bounced back from a frustrating mid-week loss by handing the best Italian squad a loss in Sampdoria’s house. Up to this point I think most people considered it a good run, now fans of the game know that the strong start was no fluke.
Daniele De Rossi/Martins Adailton
What’s better then a 90th minute goal? How about a 90th minute goal that saves your club from losing the match. Both these men were able to achieve this exciting feat this last weekend. De Rossi put Roma into a draw with a 90th minute goal as did Adailton for Bologna. Marco Di Vaio still can’t get it going which means guys like Adailton need to step up.
