Juventus and Ronaldo stole all the transfer headlines when he made his £100m move from earlier this summer. Juventus released a series of photos of Ronaldo’s silhouette in front of his own name to announce the club’s biggest-ever signing.
Sampdoria completed the £7.7million signing of Vieira on Wednesday before announcing to the world their latest acquisition in hilarious fashion.
Sampdoria seized the opportunity to pastiche the graphic, adding the club’s blue, white, red and black stripes to the bottom of ‘Ronaldo’, and cheekily adding ‘Vieira’ at the bottom to denote the difference between their new boy and his much more famous namesake.
Vieira has one of football’s most recognisable names, having been named after Brazilian striker Ronaldo and possessing the same last name as Arsenal and France legend Patrick Vieira.
The 20-year-old will get the chance to face Cristiano Ronaldo this season when the two sides face each other in Serie A.
Sampdoria travel to Turin to face the Italian champions on December 29 before hosting Ronaldo and Co in one of the last games of the season.
