Walter Sabatini believes Radja Nainggolan is “an exceptional signing” for Inter, as he’s “among the best three midfielders in Europe”.
The Sampdoria technical director was a co-ordinator between the Nerazzurri and Jiangsu Suning last season, and was asked about the imminent signing of the Belgian from another of his former clubs, Roma.
“Nainggolan is an exceptional signing for Inter,” Sabatini assured, speaking Sky.
“[Luciano] Spalletti is the only Coach who can get the very best from the Belgian, and Nainggolan is among the best three midfielders in Europe.
“As for [Javier] Pastore, he’s an exceptional talent who sees passing lines that others don’t see. I tried to take him to Inter in January, but it was an unrealistic attempt.
“I’m happy to see him at Roma, I didn’t like the path he was on at Paris Saint-Germain.
“He played very well in the first year, but then he settled a little and accepted a role as subordinate, but a champion can’t accept that or he’s not a champion.
“Pastore is an all-round playmaker, he can even play as a wide central midfielder though he lacks a bit of running, because in Italy you have to chase a lot.
“He’s a strong player with a strong Coach.”
Sabatini helped to bring Joao Cancelo to Inter on loan last summer, but he now seems certain to join Juventus in a €40m deal.
“He’s worth all of it. He does sublime things on the right, he runs so easily. I’d have taken him for €40m too.
“He needs to grow in terms of his guts on the pitch but he’s a great player. He has extraordinary technical quality, he needs to take more shots. But that’s just something he needs to do to complete himself.
“For me he’s a very good player, I had Maicon and Cancelo can reach those levels.”
