The Italian international has been sidelined since January after suffering ligament damage in his right knee. Rossi, who was the top scorer in the Italian Serie A with 14 goals before getting injured, is eager to return to full fitness in time to be selected for this summer’s FIFA World Cup™ in Brazil.
“Rossi is back in the group but is avoiding physical contact,” Fiorentina sporting director Daniele Prade said to www.gazzetta.it. “He is following a specific programme carried out by our doctors. We hope to have him available for the Coppa Italia final. He is the biggest Italian talent that there is.”
The 26-year-old Rossi has been included in Italy coach Cesare Prandelli’s 42-man list to undergo fitness tests in the Azzurri’s headquarters in Coverciano, Florence, this week in view of the World Cup.
