Gervinho has agreed a contract with the Giallorossi and will team up with former Lille coach Rudi Garcia, who also joined the Serie A giants this summer.
The Ivorian forward, who failed to established himself as a first-team regular with Arsenal, becomes Roma’s fifth major signing of the summer following Morgan De Sanctis, Maicon, Mehdi Benatia and Kevin Strootman.
Arsenal said on the team’s official website:
“Gervinho has joined Italian Serie A side AS Roma for an undisclosed fee.
“Everyone at Arsenal would like to thank Gervinho for his contribution to the Club and wish him well for his future career.”
Roma has been looking to strengthen its squad following a disappointing campaign last year, having missed out on European football after finishing sixth in Italy’s top flight and runner-up to rival Lazio in the Coppa Italia.
Gervinho made 18 Premier League appearances last season, scoring five goals. Before joining Arsenal, Gervinho was a productive goalscorer in France, scoring 28 goals in 67 appearances for Lille.
