Roma High Hopes For Gago, Confirm Full Support for Enrique

Fernando GagoAs Roma are one of the Serie A teams that are making huge rebuilding this summer making changes everywhere and involving actively in the transfer market especially adding important last day signings such as Simon Kjaer and Fernando Gago.

The latter’s arrival seemed to receive several doubts considering the player can’t seem to find decent playing time in the last couple seasons due to injury, however, Roma are not worried as they believed that the Argentinian will be an important act for the capital outfit.

The confidence over Gago’s future with Roma was revealed by the capital club’s director, Walter Sabatini, who is the one responsible in bringing the Argentinian from Real Madrid this summer on a loan deal with purchasing option by the end of season. Although the ex-Boca Junior player haven’t played a lot for Madrid in the past couple seasons, Sabatini believed that the quality that Gago possessed is not missing at all and will be an asset for the Giallorossi this season.

He(Gago) adds quality, history and charisma to our team,He’s a player who will be noted at Roma. He’ll certainly have a point to prove, but he’s always been an integral part of the Argentine national team,” Sabatini said.

Gago’s arrival tactically could definitely boost Roma’s midfield as he pretty much capable in playing the kind of football that new coach, Luis Enrique likes to play, which is possession based style which required quality ball playing midfielder such as the Argentinian. However, the catch for the ex-Boca Junior man would be on his physical condition, as he always picked up some sort of injuries during the season while playing with Madrid, this condition could be the main concern considering Serie A can be more physical than Spanish La Liga.

In other news, aside giving his confidence about Gago’s future at Roma, Sabatini also squashed recent rumors regarding the Giallorossi’s new coach, Luis Enrique, who reportedly is under questioned after failing to take the club advancing in the Europa League. There’s news claiming that the capital club is lining up Delio Rossi to replace the Spaniard, but Sabatini simply denied that reports by ensuring that the ex-Barcelona B tactician remains in Rome.

“Our Coach is Luis Enrique and he’ll continue to be our Coach for a long time. He’s a great resource for us. There is nothing with Rossi,” Sabatini added.
