Real Madrid Bow Out Of Paul Pogba Sweepstakes

pogba-dabAccording to Sky Sports, Real Madrid have ended their interest in Paul Pogba after realizing that they cannot compete financially with the offer for the Juventus midfielder that Manchester United have put together.

According to various sources close to the deal, the basic transfer fee for Pogba is understood to start at around £106m (€120m).

However, when taking into account add-ons and bonuses related to the success of the player and the club, as well as the reported 10m (€22m) fee to Pogba’s agent, Mino Raiola, the final transfer fee is expected to reach over £125m (€473m).

But that is not the final cost of this world record deal. Pogba will sign a five-year contract that will pay him a £12m (€14m) signing bonus and wages of £12.5m (€14.7m) per year.

So when you add it all up, United are poised to invest £200m (€234.5m) for the midfielder they let leave for pennies four years ago.

While Pogba is said to be prefer a move to Real Madrid, he is not president Florentino Perez’s type of Galáctico. Plus with Cristiano Ronaldo and Gareth Bale already at the Bernabéu, the European champions will not build a team around Pogba. United will.

Juventus have been steadfast that Pogba is not for sale, but the French international is expected to tell the Serie A champions that he wants to return to Old Trafford, and which point Juventus will agree to the world record transfer.

United fans can have no complaints about how the board is doing whatever it takes to give Jose Mourinho the best possible chance of winning the Premier League in his first season at the club.

What do you think of Man United’s interest in Paul Pogba? Should Juventus sell him, or should they keep building the team they have?
