One of Italy’s most treasured coaches Claudio Ranieri has threatened to quit AS Roma. It is no secret that Roma have been struggling for most of the early part of this season and this has apparently led to speculation concerning Ranieri’s future.
Speaking to the press, Ranieri gave his clearest hint so far stating that he is not tied down to the capital club. Ranieri stated that he could always, ‘find work elsewhere.’
Ranieri was upset at his sides recent performances and failure to mount a strong challenge for the scudetto. He also stated that he would like Roma to play like Barcelona. In fact the Roma tactician revealed that he had talked to Barca coach coach Pep Guardiola to find out his formula for success.
“I dream of playing like Barcelona, but it would be impossible,”
“I spoke to Pep Guardiola about it. He said that he can only play the way he does at Barcelona because his players have it in their DNA.”
Roma prepare to face Udinese at the Stadio Olimpico in Rome tomorrow night amidst intense pressure. Roma are just one point below defending champions Inter in the Serie A table and will be hoping that the Nerazzurri’s poor league form continues when they travel Chievo to face the home side.
If Inter lose or draw and Roma win, then the Giallorossi will move up to 5th position. Ranieri also stated that his side have what it takes to win the title.
“People said I was finished, but I was right,”
“Things were not going well like last year, but now they are and you can see it.”
“If Inter focus on the Champions League then I will be happy,”
Meanwhile, title contenders Milan prepare to host Fiorentina at the San Siro on Saturday while Juventus travel to Genoa in a tricky must win fixture if they are to continue their impressive rise to the top of the table.
