Barcelona midfielder Ivan Rakitic ‘is nearing a €50 million summer move to Inter Milan’ as his five-year stay at the Nou Camp nears its end.
Although the Croatian’s contract runs until the summer of 2021, Barcelona have plenty of options in his position with Ajax’s Frenkie de Jong this summer joining the likes of Arturo Vidal and Arthur Melo.
According to Spanish newspaper Rakitic is closing in on a move to the San Siro.
Barcelona reportedly rejected a €85m approach from Paris Saint-Germain last summer but are prepared to sanction a move this time around as they rebuild after crashing out of the Champions League against Liverpool/
Rakitic had hoped for improved terms following the PSG offer but Barcelona don’t want to raise his salary and manager Ernesto Valverde would sanction his departure.
The Croatian, who signed for Barcelona from Sevilla for £15.5m in 2014, has won four league titles, four Spanish Cups and the Champions League during his time with the club.
Rakitic has scored 35 goals in 265 appearances during his time with Barcelona.
