Inter Milan ‘want Toni Kroos from Real Madrid’ as they bid to provide star striker Mauro Icardi with ‘world class service’.
Luciano Spalletti’s side are currently third in Serie A, 14 points adrift of league leaders Juventus.
But according to daily newspaper Corriere dello Sport, Inter are assessing their options for the January transfer window with Kroos and Atletico Madrid defender Diego Godin on their radar.
Under previous boss Julen Lopetegui, Kroos looked to be regressing and not having the impact on games he showed with such consistency under Zinedine Zidane on route to three successive Champions League titles.
But an upturn in form under Santiago Solari has seen Kroos’ stock return to the lofty heights of recent seasons and Inter, according to Corriere dello Sport, believe he can be the man to provide the necessary service for Icardi.
The Argentine striker is one of the most in-demand in Europe and if they fail to prove to Icardi that they can attract the biggest names to compete for honours, he could be looking to move somewhere else.
Madrid retain an interest in him, as do a number of clubs in the Premier League.
Another area of concern for Inter in this January transfer window is at the back and Atletico stalwart Godin is a name circulating around the San Siro.
Godin is yet to agree to a new deal with Atletico and would be one of the most sought after defenders should he be made free to leave.
