Mauricio Pochettino Favorite To Replace Allegri At Juventus

Mauricio Pochettino is the favourite to replace Massimiliano Allegri at Juventus after the club confirmed the Italian coach will leave at the end of the season.

The 51-year-old Italian coach has won five Serie A titles and the Coppa Italia four times during his five years in charge of the Turin-based side, as well as finishing runners-up in the Champions League in 2015 and 2017.

The club released a statement to confirm the news, which read: ‘Massimiliano Allegri will not be on the Juventus bench for the 2019-20 season.

‘The coach and the president, Andrea Agnelli, will meet the media together at tomorrow’s press conference – Saturday 18 May, at 2pm in the press conference hall of Allianz Stadium.’

Allegri was widely expected to leave despite leading the Old Lady to their eighth consecutive league title with six games to spare.

Antonio Conte and Pep Guardiola are among those who could replace Allegri with Pochettino the favourite to take over at the Allianz Stadium.

Italian media reported that the club had made contact with the Tottenham boss last week, with the Argentine coach reportedly demanding an enormous £17million-per-year contract, according to last Saturday’s Corriere dello Sport.

Pochettino himself has made it clear that he is seriously considering leaving Tottenham at the end of the campaign if they don’t attempt to build on their first major European cup final appearance.

He said last Friday: ‘The problem is, I need to know what we need to achieve or what we are going to fight for. That is the most important.

‘I am not open to start a new chapter with no plan, with no clear idea, with not being transparent, telling you and telling our fans what’s next, what is our objective.

‘If we expect every season to be in the final of the Champions League, we need to create a plan, and the plan may be different to what has happened in the last five years.

‘If we believe we can operate in the same way we have in the last five years and that we are going to be every season in the final of the Champions League, and we are going to be every season in the top four and competing against Liverpool or Manchester City or Manchester United, I think we are very naive.

‘In five years we have achieved a lot of things, but now it’s what’s next, that is my point.’

Manchester City boss, Guardiola is their dream appointment according to Tuttosport.

The former Barcelona manager and his entourage have put up a wall to any offers but it is believed that could be because he does not want his City side distracted ahead of the FA Cup final against Watford on Saturday.

The Premier League champions have the opportunity to do the domestic treble having won the League Cup in February.
