Mancini Says He Is Staying At Inter – Is That Good News?

Roberto-Mancini-IMFCWith Antonio Conte heading to Chelsea following Euro 2016, there is a lot of speculation about who will take over in the Azzurri hot seat. One person not interested in the job, at least at the moment, is Inter boss Roberto Mancini.

Mancini has struggled in his second spell at Inter and a miserable run of results have brought speculation over his future.

However, following a 3-1 win over Palermo on Sunday night, the former Manchester City manager has confirmed he’ll be staying.

“I’m the Nerazzurri Coach and I will be next year,” Mancini told reporters outside today’s Golden Bench ceremony.

“Then we’ll see.

“We were top of the League for a long time, but then we had difficult times with poor results. But we were always among the top teams, we’re here in the top five.

“We have to believe in ourselves, and we’ll see where we are at the end. The last two matches were good, I really hope we’re past the hard times.

“In the last 10 games we want to return to being protagonists, just as we were at the start of the season.

“There are still 30 points available, anything can happen.”

Mancini added:

“I’m used to Italian football by now and I don’t worry about the plaudits or the criticism. I think you should be judged at the end of the season.”

“We made people think we could win the title. Obviously if we were up there with five matches remaining we’d have a chance.

“We always knew there were four better teams than us in the league but that doesn’t mean we can’t finish third. That was our objective at the start of the season and we hope to achieve it – if we got third it would be a great season for us.”

Do you think that Mancini should be given another year at Inter to finish what he has started?
