The last few weeks I have often highlighted Juventus’ injury plagued team. Del Piero is expected to miss a month, Diego was still out as of last weekend, and many other players remained dinged up and out of the lineup. The result of all of these injuries was a loss last weekend against Palermo. Usually a club that Juve could easily handle, the injuries were just too much for the powerhouse squad to overcome last week.
The same thing might happen to Inter as well.
As previously reported leading goal scorer and newly acquired forward Diego Milito will miss up to a month of Serie A action. The Argentine forward has a strain in his thigh and doctors are saying his timetable to return is around a month. The forward acquired from Genoa scored over 20 goals last season and is on pace for a similar result this year for the returning champions. The loss will most definitely hurt the offensive side of the ball and the club will need Samuel Eto’o to awaken from his minor goal scoring draught and direct the offense.
But offense isn’t the only department that underwent a significant loss in the last week. Brazilian defender Lucio is also expected to miss sometime these upcoming weeks with a muscle strain of his own. It is not known how long the defender will be out, but around ten days is the projected timetable. So Lucio may not miss any matches for Inter, but expect the defender to miss Brazil final qualifiers. Luckily for Brazil they have already sealed a spot in next year’s World Cup.
