Failing to reach the fourth place spot in the latest Serie A season, Lazio are trying to fix things up in the upcoming season by starting their transfer market very early with the signing of German international striker, Miroslav Klose.
Reports from Sky Sport 24 in Italy suggested that the striker has already signed a two year contract with the Biancoceleste worth around 2 million Euro per season, the paper was reportedly signed on Wednesday evening and on Thursday, Klose will have the necessary medical check up.
The deal is definitely not a surprise since the player has been linked with a move to Italy since the European football season ended and even before his contract ended with Bayern Munich not long ago. Aside from Lazio, the Italy champion, Ac Milan were also linked with the striker but it seems that the opportunity to have a much more important role at the Biancocelesti eventually becomes the reason for Klose in playing at the capital.
Despite being a regular in the German national team setup, Klose’s career at Bayern Munich hasn’t been that brilliant in the last two seasons as he spent most of his time playing from the bench, because of the tough competition at the Bavarian front line. That situation pretty much motivates him to sees out his contract and walk away as a free agent this summer, making things simply easier for Lazio, who are also keen on getting experience star player to boost their performance next season.
The capital side actually had a pretty good start in the Serie A, as they managed to lead the competition for several weeks before finally being dethroned by the eventual winner, Milan. Unfortunately, after losing their first place spot, Lazio can’t seem to keep their feet at least in the top four although they was still in the battle for the final Champiosn League spot until the last day.
The team’s coach, Edy Reja, stated that one of the reason for his club’s drop of form is because the didn’t make any significant addition in January especially in the striker department as they had some injury issues at that department in the second half of the season. This is pretty much why Lazio are very keen on acquiring Klose this summer as getting a big name player could really help them out in being more competitive in Serie A next season.
