Juventus Submit Champions League Squad – So Who Missed Out?

Juventus supporters display a giant flag at their Italian Serie A soccer match against Palermo at the Juventus stadium in TurinNow that transfer deadline day is over and done with we can now turn our attention to the Champions League which kicks off later this month,

With that in mind, Juventus have submitted their squad list for the Champions League group stage, which gets underway on Tuesday, Sept. 15, when Max Allegri’s boys make the trip to England and the Etihad Stadium to face Manchester City

Here is the Juventus squad for the completion, courtesy of Juventus’ official website:

1 Gianluigi Buffon
3 Giorgio Chiellini
4 Martin Caceres
6 Sami Khedira
7 Simone Zaza
8 Claudio Marchisio
9 Alvaro Morata
10 Paul Pogba
11 Hernanes
12 Alex Sandro
15 Andrea Barzagli
16 Juan Cuadrado
17 Mario Mandzukic
18 Mario Lemina
19 Leonardo Bonucci
21 Paulo Dybala
24 Daniele Rugani
25 Neto
26 Stephan Lichtsteiner
27 Stefano Sturaro
33 Patrice Evra
37 Roberto Pereyra
38 Emil Audero

The two obvious names missing are Kwadwo Asamoah and Simone Padoin. And, you have to think, they are for two very different reasons.

Asamoah has been struggling with injuries and this is an indication that his recovery is not going as planned. As for Padoin, it appears to be a numbers game, because when Claudio Marchisio and Sami Khedira are fit they will most certainly play ahead of him.
