Juventus Shock As Mandzukic And Can Left Out Of Champions League Squad

Champions League Trophy

Stunning news from Turin where Juventus has left Mario Mandzukic and Emre Can out of their 22-man squad for this season’s Champions League group stages.

Both players were expected to leave this summer, and Maurizio Sarri has decided that these two stars are the ones to be left out from what is a bloated first-team squad.

Summer additions Matthijs de Ligt, Danilo, Merih Demiral, Adrien Rabiot, Aaron Ramsey and Gianluigi Buffon have all been included while Gonzalo Higuain also makes the cut after returning from loan.

Paulo Dybala, who was strongly linked with a move away from the club, has also been selected.

Captain Giorgio Chiellini was left out but that was to be expected with the defender having been ruled out for six months after undergoing surgery on an anterior cruciate ligament injury.

Mandzukic won the tournament with Bayern Munich in 2013 and also scored in Juve’s final defeat by Real Madrid in 2017.

Can reached the final with Liverpool in 2018, where he came on as a second-half substitute.
