Juventus, Inter And Milan Linked With New World Super League

eurosJuventus, Inter and AC Milan have all been linked with a new World Super League that could start playing in 2021.

Set to be launched in 2021, the three MLS sides would join up with the European elite of Spain, Germany and England and play competitive fixtures around the world. The Super League would replace the Champions League and Europa League.

Bayern Munich, Juventus and Real Madrid are understood to be the driving force behind the Super League, as the clubs from Germany, Spain and Italy are becoming increasingly fearful of the increased financial power of the Premier League.

Jacco Swart, who is director of the European Professional Football Leagues and one of European football’s leading powerbrokers said:

“We will see a worldwide football competition in a few years. That is a development which nobody can stop anymore.

“It will be an exclusive party for the happy few — for the biggest football brands in the world.”

“This new Super League will be driven by TV markets, huge sponsors, branding and marketing all over the world. And not by real football factors.

“What it will mean exactly for the biggest football leagues in the world, the Premier League, La Liga (Spain) and the Bundesliga (Germany), I don’t know yet.”

According to English newspaper The Mirror these are the clubs whose names are being pushed to be included in a World League:

  • China: Guangzhou Evergrande, Shanghai SIPG
  • USA LA Galaxy, New York City
  • Australia Melbourne City
  • Brazil Corinthians
  • Italy Juventus, AC Milan, Inter Milan
  • Spain Real Madrid, Barcelona, Atletico Madrid
  • South Africa SuperSport United (Johannesburg)
  • Germany Bayern Munich, Borussia Dortmund
  • France Paris Saint-Germain, Lyon
  • England Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester City, Manchester United.
