Mauro Icardi could be staying in France, with Paris Saint-Germain reportedly wanting to make the Argentinian’s loan deal permanent in January.
The former Inter striker was signed on-loan by PSG on deadline day this summer, and has been a hit for the Parisians so far this season, scoring 12 goals in 15 games in all competitions.
With Edinson Cavani expected to leave at the end of the summer, and with rumoors of Neymar and Kylian Mbappe’s discontent at the club, sporting director Leonardo believes Icardi is the right person to build their attack around.
The 26-yer-old Icardi has shown at PSG that he is still one of the best goal scorers in world football, and PSG are keen to take up the option they have to buy the striker for €70m in January.
But Icardi’s agent wife Wanda Nara is not convinced that Ligue 1 is the best place for her husband/client and is looking for alternative destinations.
Wanda is hopeful that Icardi’s performances for PSG have attracted the attention of Juventus or Real Madrid, and wants to wait before committing to stay in Paris.
