Forlan Sidelined For A Month

Diego Forlán, Campeón Copa América 2011Injury problems keeps on coming for Inter Milan as just when reports indicating they might get some players such as Wesley Sneijder and Julio Cesar back after the international break, another bad news occurred as the Nerazzurri will lose their summer signing Diego Forlan for a month.

The Uruguayan international picked up a muscle injury during his international duty with his country last week and four weeks are the time needed for his recovery.

This news obviously isn’t something encouraging for the Nerazzurri, as they definitely needs all the quality they can have to return themselves back on track again in the Scudetto challenge. Although Forlan is ineligible for the Champions League, the Uruguayan international is very useful to help Claudio Ranieri’s team in getting as much point as they can get in the league especially with Diego Milito and Giampaolo Pazzini haven’t really discovered consistency as just yet.

The four weeks verdict is also something surprising for the Nerazzurri fans as previous prediction reveals that Forlan would only need around two weeks time for recovery but the latest test indicated further two weeks is needed. This condition would force Claudio Ranieri to be really careful in picking his forward line up as they must also save energy for the Champions League, which can definitely cause physical issues for the available players if no perfect rotation being implemented.

Forlan arrived late in the Summer market as a replacement for the departed Samuel Eto’o, but so far the Uruguayan hasn’t really filled the role that the Cameroon leaves. Making things more annoying, the ex-Atletico Madrid man can’t play in the Champions League because of the UEFA rules which apparently isn’t known by Inter until the last day of players registration, which infuriated the club’s president, Massimo Moratti.
