Dreams Halted

Bosnian striker Edin Dzeko still believes that he will play in the Serie A one day. Dzeko has been the centre of intense interest from both AC Milan and Juventus and the 26 year old now looks certain to have made up his mind.

In an interview with Tuttosport, Dzeko claimed that things did not go according to plan forcing him to remain with Bundesliga outfit Wolfsburg. He now has the company of Diego a former Juventus player for the past 2 years who joined Wolfsburg in the summer after an unimpressive two year stint with the Bianconeri.

“I cannot hide being sorry for failing to move to Juventus. Until the end I believed that Wolfsburg and Juventus could find an agreement, especially when the two clubs opened negotiations for Diego, but unfortunately things didn’t go the way I wanted,” said Dzeko.

Meanwhile, the Bianconeri prepare to welcome Palermo to Turin on Thursday for a mouth watering fixture. Oozing confidence after there 4-0 thrashing of Udinese on Sunday, Del Neri’s poor start to the season could be changing for the better.

Striker Vicenzo Iaquinta has issued a passionate appeal to his team mates to defeat Palermo as a perfect gift for the fans.

“For us, the matches against Palermo and Cagliari are two important ones,” the Italian international told TuttoSport. “We want to win the matches for our supporters, who follow us through thick and thin.

“We know that against Palermo, it will be a tough encounter. They have been through a tough period, where they have struggled to claim points. They will be hungry and be seeking to take points off us. We must be ready for them.”

Juventus are 9th on the league and a win tomorrow would push them higher up the table.
