Cristiano Ronaldo Named Champions League Forward of the Season

Cristiano Ronaldo has been named UEFA Champions League Forward of the Season for the second year running.

The 33-year-old, now with Juventus, enjoyed yet another exceptional campaign for Real Madrid in 2017/18. Not only did he win a third successive UEFA Champions League title – and a record fifth overall – he also top-scored in the competition for a sixth straight season.

However, the overall award for Champions League Player of the Season went to Luka Modric a decision that did not go down well with Ronaldo’s agent Jorge Mendes.

“Football is played on the field and that’s where Cristiano won. He scored 15 goals, carried Real Madrid on his back and conquered the Champions League again” Mendes told Portuguese paper Record

“It’s ridiculous, shameful. The winner is not in doubt, as Ronaldo is the best in his position.”
