Buffon's Bleak Future Gets Darker

It looks like the future is not looking bright at all for Italian international keeper Gianlugi Buffon as not only he could end his world cup campaign due to his recurring injury but his future at Juventus could be at risk as reports stated that the Turin based club is preparing to look for another keeper for next season. The rumors in Italy stated that the Bianconeri is currently eying three goal keeper, two of them are Serie A based shot stoppers, Ac Milan’s Marco Storari and Chievo’s Stefano Sorrentino and beside those two another candidate that could feel Buffon’s place next summer is Monaco’s young starlet, Stephane Rufier.

Buffon’s recent injury is surely something serious as according to the doctors it is an old injury that has been troubling the shot stopper in the past. Knowing this problem, the doctor team leader Enrico Castellacci stated that he cannot confirm when would the 32-years-old keeper would be able to return for Italy in this world cup, which would possibly ends his journey at the tournament.

“He has a spinal disc herniation. We have notified Juventus over his problem and made a diagnosis about his injury. We cannot evaluate how or when he will recover. His recovery time is not short, but neither can we evaluate it. We have to stick with the diagnosis and see how he responds,” Castellacci explained.” We cannot give an accurate time scale in terms of his recovery. It will be on a day to day basis. It’s not a new problem. He has had this in the past and it’s recurring problem.”

Knowing this condition, it looks like Juventus are also preparing their future without Gigi guarding their goal, as this kind of injury is what has been keeping him sidelined for quite sometime in the past. With Buffon’s recent medical record, it would pretty much an smart move for Juve as hey can’t really rely on the Italian international to keep staying healthy next summer as it would be a huge gamble for them. The latest rumors stated that among the three keeper mentioned above, the Bianconeri’s management seems keen on Milan’s Marco Storari as Italian press reported that the team’s director Beppe Marrotta was seen on the Rossoneri’s office earlier today to talk about the possible transfer for Storari.
