As Roma Pulled Out Of Lamela's Race

The future of talented Argentinian young midfielder, Erik Lamela, who is being linked with a move to several top Italian clubs, gets more interesting after the latest report suggested that As Roma have pulled out of the race to sign the River Plate player. This news was confirmed by the Giallorossi’s director, Walter Sabatini, stating that his club has already lost their interest in signing the 19-years-old trequartista around a month ago, a rather conflicting statement compared to the latest rumors that strongly linking the player to the capital city.

The River Plate President may be in Italy to sell Lamela, but it won’t be to Roma,” Sabatini said. “We ended our interest in the player around a month ago.”

This statement made by the Roma’s director simply puts the likes of Ac Milan, Napoli or even Inter Milan on pole to acquire the youngster’s signature if he is really being offered only for Italian clubs by Passarella. It’s a bit difficult to judge which of those three teams are currently having the best chance in getting Lamela, although Milan could be counted as having the strongest position because the Naples side reportedly are not that keen on the player’s current price, while the Nerazzurri have pretty much signed another Argentinian with similar style, Ricky Alvarez.

Milan themselves have admitted their interest in Lamela but never really confirmed about making a deal for the youngster and the recent signing of Stephan El Shaarawy kinda made the media left the Rossoneri’s potential for while. However, there were latest reports that the Italian champion are returning their flame for the talented player, probably in a bid not to miss out on another potential talent, which has been done several times by the Red and Black Squad in the past.

In the next couple of days the clarity regarding Lamela’s future should be cleared out and it will be very interesting indeed to see where would the talented 19-years-old will finally ends up. The youngster reportedly is being tagged around 12 million Euro, which is far cheaper that his previous 20 million asking price. This reduce number apparently happened because of River Plate’s relegation to the second division, which pretty much forced the Argentinian club to sell the player immediately.
