This summer AC Milan will once again travel to the USA to take part in the International Champions Cup pre-season tournament.
“It is great to be going back to the United States,” said Mauro Tassotti of the Rossoneri. “I know how much the players love playing in this country.
“They get to train in great facilities and everyone is very welcoming. It is very important for us to be facing such great clubs.”
This year’s International Champions Cup features the most storied and successful clubs in the world, including many of the world’s top players. The 10 participating teams have won a total of 190 domestic league titles, 246 domestic cup titles and 36 UEFA Champions League titles. The teams feature 18 of the 2015-2016 FIFA Ballon d’Or nominees, as well as 50 of the top 100 players in the world as chosen yearly by renowned English magazine FourFourTwo. The International Champions Cup is the first tournament of the 2016-2017 soccer season.
Matches will take place across both Europe and North America and as well as Inter and AC Milan, other clubs participating are Liverpool, Chelsea, Leicester City, Paris Saint-Germain, Barcelona, Real Madrid, Bayern Munich and Celtic.
AC Milan start the competition on July 27 against Bayern Munich in Chicago, Illinois and then on July 30, they will take on Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool in Santa Clara.
On August 3, Milan’s tournament comes to an end in Minnesota against Chelsea and representatives from both clubs have voiced their excitement about the summer ahead.
