As speculation about the future of Inter captain Mauro Icardi continues to rumble on, his agent continues to ratchet up pressure on the Nerazzurri to give him a new contract by revealing that two Scudetto rivals are keen to sign him.
Mauro wants a new contract, more in line with his value in the transfer marker. So far Inter are saying no and Wanda is not pleased with the Nerazzurri inactivity.
Mrs. Icardi broke open story open last week when she took to social media to explain here unhappiness with the negotiations. Now she has spoken to FCInterNews as this is what she had to say:
“I can confirm the interest of Napoli and Juventus and other teams that you all know by now.”
“For our part we would like to continue the work that was started a year ago, but was then interrupted. At the moment our intention isn’t to renew the contract, but we would like to see him at the appropriate economic level.
“We are working to adapt Mauro’s contract, but we still have to wait. I think the picture will be clearer within 7-10 days.
“I would like him to stay because we’re happy in Milan, but that’s his decision. He wants to stay because he loves these colours.”
The Icardi’s cannot have it both ways here. Inter are not going to give him a pay raise while not extending his contract which ends in 2019. Otherwise we are back in this position in 12 months as having to sell the 23-year-old striker because he will have only two years left on his contract or give him a new deal with another pay raise.
What do you think Inter should do with Icardi? Give him a raise or sell him?
