Totti's Penalty Saves Roma The Blushes

AS Roma captain Francesco Totti made good on his promise by scoring the eaqualiser that earned his side a point against Juventus last night at the Stadio Olimpico in Turin.

Both sides came into the match knowing that a win would take them to between 2 points of leaders Milan who face rivals Inter today in a match that could ultimately decide who stands a good chance of winning the scudetto.

Both Del Neri and Ranieri believed that their sides deserved to win with the Juventus tactician hailing his sides performance on the night.

“We played a good game,

“I can’t complain about the result but I think my men deserved to win tonight.

“We created numerous chances in front of goal but only found the net on one occasion.

“Against a Roma side who have been flying as of late, we put in a determined performance.”

In the same vein,Roma coach Claudio Ranieri praised his sides performance saying his side showed character.

“My side wanted to win”,

“They [Juventus] managed to hit us with their first scoring chance and we had to work hard to get back into the match.

“In the second period it could have gone either way but I was pleased with the character shown by my men who pushed right to the end.

The mega battle however will take place tonight as league action continues with the most anticipated match between Milan rivals Inter and AC Milan. Both sides must win if they are to shrug off competition from Lazio, Juventus, and Roma.

The match however ended on a sour note as Adrian Mutu who is making a return to competitive football after a 9 month doping ban sustained a groin injury that could keep him out of the Viola’s next few matches.

In today’s other matches, Lazio face Napoli in a tough encouter at the Stadio Olimpico in Rome. A loss for Loss would give either Milan side the chance to either extend their lead or cut the gap.
