Milan Title Challenge Halted Again, Third Place Race Keep Getting Hotter

Ac Milan’s title challenge suffered another blow after they only managed to get a 1-1 draw against Bologna at San Siro, although another controversy sparked when Milan had another supposedly correct goal disallowed.

The away team struck the blow first with Gaston Ramirez’ goal but Ibrahimovic came to the rescue in the final minute with a more than deserved equalizer, giving a little spark for the Rossoneri’s title challenge, which not looking bright with the result.

Playing ahead of their rival, Juventus, Milan had the chance to temporarily regain lead in the table and was looking very likely when they dominated things in the early minute and should have scored when Ibrahimovic amazingly placed his shot wide from just a few yards out. The Rossoneri paid heavily for their lack of sharpness up front, as Mark Van Bommel’s blunder allowed Alessandro Diamanti to breach into the home team’s defense before assisting Ramirez, who puts the ball passed Cristian Abbiati.

After a controversial goal disallowed and also losing Daniele Bonera, who received his second yellow card in the match, Milan eventually grabbed their equalizer after Ibrahimovic tapped in Urby Emmanuelson’s cross. Obviously another disappointing result for the Red and Black squad, who might really felt once again outdone by some of the decision that might prove decisive in the Scudetto race with Juventus.

Meanwhile, the Champions League spot challenge continue to get interesting as Udinese, Lazio and Inter Milan were all held by their opponents, allowing Napoli a chance to get closer after picking up a 2-0 victory over Novara, with goals from Edinson Cavani and Paolo Cannavaro. The Biancocelesti still hold that final Champions spot despite only getting a 1-1 draw against Lecce as Matuzalem’s goal was canceled out in the final minute by Valery Bojinov, stopping Edy Reja’s side a clear path in keeping that third place spot.
