Lazio Closing In on Santa Cruz

SanSiro saluta i tifosi biancocelestiAfter successfully securing the service of talented Brazilian midfielder, Hernanes, Lazio reportedly have set their eyes on another South American player, Paraguayan international, Roque Santa Cruz.

According to the Italian media the Manchester City striker has become a new candidate to fill the Aquiloti’s striking department for the upcoming season after the capital club finds it difficult to land Hugo Almeida.

Proving their serious intention, Lazio’s director of Sport, Igli Tare, reportedly has already arrived in England to conclude the deal with the Manchester club’s officials. The Roman based club supposedly wanted to make a loan deal only for Santa Cruz and prepared to pay about 2 million Euro for that matter.

With the amount of players that City currently have it shouldn’t be a problem for Lazio to land the former Bayern Muenchen striker, especially that the player doesn’t seem to feature on Roberto Mancini’s plan. The only doubtful thing about the deal, probably on the personal agreements and how good is his physical conditions is as he has been troubled by many injuries in the past few seasons.

The latest report suggested that the deal has already gone through advanced stage although, there are still some issues that are being considered by Lazio before the deal can be realized. The club’s president, Claudio Lotito, stated that the decision about the deal will be confirmed and revealed as soon as possible.

“The deal of Santa Cruz is still very open, but we are thinking in depth about some issues,” said Lotito to the press. “We will make the right assessments and decide soon.”

Should Lazio manage to conclude the deal, they could be a very interesting side to watch in the Serie A next season as the club has actually made some interesting investment to compete in the league. Despite of his injury problems, Santa Cruz is actually still a good striker to have especially if he can stay fit for the season.
