Napoli failed again to produce consistent winning run after only picking up a point against Novara this weekend, but that result apparently still doesn’t washed away Ezequiel Lavezzi’s hope of winning the Scudetto this year.
The Argentinian international stated that although at the moment they’re still a bit behind the other top clubs, the season is still long and once the Partenopei can picked up a good winning run they can immediately challenge those ahead of them.
Tonight(against Novara) we did everything we could to win, but were only able to get a point. There’s a long way to the end of the season, so if we win three or four games on the trot then I still believe we can catch the top clubs. I have faith,” Lavezzi stated.
Lavezzi’s confidence in Napoli’s Scudetto ambition is definitely a positive attitude which could help the Partenopei keeps on fighting hard in order to keep challenging for the Serie A title this season. However, the spirit must also be shown on the pitch as this season the Partenopei have really been looking inconsistent in getting result especially when they’re playing before or after a Champions League tie.
It’s obviously not a coincidence that Napoli’s success in reaching the next round of the Champions League this season, has really taken a lot of their energy, which pretty much reflected on their Serie A performances. The Partenopei looked really tired in several matches, mainly when they were playing against lesser teams in the league, which have been Walter Mazzarri’s struggle this season as they usually picked up positive results against bigger teams.
It would be interesting to see in the next few matches whether Napoli can get their winning consistency back again considering they won’t be having a tough Champions League midweek again for a while. Should they managed to get a good run than what Lavezzi’s wishing might eventually come through, that is if the other top clubs failed to maintain their consistency in picking up points .
