There is a new feeling of optimism surrounding Inter these days. Armed with the the deep pockets of the Suning Group, Inter are beginning to show their intent in the transfer market, as they step up their attempts to sign Sassuolo‘s Domenico Berardi.
But it is the battle to sign Berardi that has awakened the rivalry between the two old rivals as Bianconeri general director Giuseppe Marotta has played down talk of Berardi choosing to join Inter over Juventus:
Berardi? I’ve spoken with [Giorgio] Squinzi and [Giovanni] Carnevali and I don’t think the player will go to Inter, he chose a very precise path of development” said Marotta.
He didn’t refuse to come to Juve, but he decided to stay another year at Sassuolo. If the player wants to grow in an environment that suits him then it’s right to wait.”
Those comments are in complete opposite for the player’s agent Simone Seghedoni told Gazzamercato.it:
“It’s true, Inter have come back in for him and they seem pretty determined.”
“Domenico is currently on his holidays, but we will take a look at the situation when he gets back.
While it remains to be seen where the promising 21-year-old ends up next season, the transfer battle is the first sign of a change in the power battle in Italy. That after five down years, that Inter are once again ready to compete for trophies!
