Juventus Put Four Past Dinamo Zagreb

dybala-juveJuventus picked up their first three points of their Champions League campaign with a 4-0 victory over Dinamo Zagreb on Tuesday night.

First half goals from Miralem Pjanic and Gonzalo Higuain ensured Juventus went into the break with a comfortable two-goal advantage.

Paulo Dybala’s fine long-range strike and Dani Alves’s deflected free-kick in the second half put the icing on the cake as Juventus ran out comfortable winners.

Juventus, who have failed to find the net much in recent times, started on the front foot in Croatia in the second group stage match of the competition. Higuain missed an opportunity in the third minute of the match after his effort was a bit too high.

Just two minutes later, Patrice Evra then had a chance to put the Italian champions ahead but his header from the centre of the box misses to the left.

Juventus continued to dominate proceedings at the Maksimir Stadium and it seemed like a matter of time until Massimiliano Allegri’s side went ahead.

And they duly did through Pjanic in the 24th minute of the match. He latched onto a defensive error and poked the ball past Adrian Semper into the bottom right corner, to score his second goal for the club since signing from Roma.

However, Zagreb nearly found a way back into the game just two minutes later but Schildenfeld hits the crossbar with a header from a Domagoj Antolic free-kick.

Higuain then put Juventus two goals ahead following a delightful move. Pjanic played a brilliant pass to Higuain, who cushioned the ball down with his chest and took it on the volley to slide it past Semper into the bottom left corner.

Juventus wrapped up proceedings in the 57th minute of the match following a great long-ranger strike from Paulo Dybala, who scored his first goal of the season.

His 30-yard left footed drive found the bottom of the right hand corner. Zagreb would need a miracle to get back into the match.

Zagreb had no answer to Juventus’s dominance and the visitors continued to control the game, with both Juan Cuadrado and Dybala both missing chances to make it four.

Juventus rubbed it in Zagreb’s faces with a fourth goal in the 85th minute of the game as Semper couldn’t keep out Dani Alves’s deflected free-kick.

Juventus face Lyon in France in their next group match, while Zagreb face Sevilla at home in the third round of Group H fixtures.
