Inter Milan have completed the signing of Brazilian defender Joao Miranda from Atletico Madrid. The 30-year-old centre-half passed a medical before putting pen to paper on a three-year deal with I Nerazurri.
A statement from Inter read:
“F.C. Internazionale is delighted to announce that the paperwork has been completed and delivered to the Lega Serie A offices for the transfer of Joao Miranda to Inter from Atletico de Madrid. The Brazilian defender penned his contract after passing his medical tests in Milan.”
Miranda, who competed with Brazil at the Copa America in Chile last month, joined Atletico from Sao Paulo in 2011. He helped Atletico win the Europa League in his debut season and the Copa del Rey in 2012/13.
Miranda started in 33 league games for Atletico to greatly contribute to the Rojiblancos winning the Primera Division title last year. The South American made 23 starts for the Spanish club in La Liga this season and is delighted to have arrived at the San Siro.
“It’s a pleasure to be here,” Miranda said on the club’ s official website. “I really like these colours and I’m very happy to have joined Inter.
“(Atletico coach Diego) Simeone told me I had made the right choice and that I’m joining a great club. I will help this team to be at the top. I will do everything I can so that Inter returns to win titles.”
Inter, coached by Roberto Mancini, finished eighth in Serie A in 2014/15 and will not play in Europe next season.
