Inter Move Up In the Table After Beating Genoa

INTER MILAN WALLPAPERInter Milan continue their attempt to step up in the league table after picking up another three point, this time against Genoa in the re-arranged Serie A match witch was postponed due to flash flood problem. In a game which saw a bit of controversy, The Nerazzurri must thanked their Japanese player, Yuto Nagatomo, as the wing back scored the only goal in the game that puts all the three points in the bag for Claudio Ranieri’s side.

Coming into the game after a morale boosting 2-0 victory over Fiorentina, Inter Milan played in a positive manner against Genoa as the Nerazzurri managed to create several good goal scoring opportunities in the first 45 minutes through Diego Milito and Giampaolo Pazzini. However, combination of poor finishing and good performance from the Rossoblu keeper, Sebastian Frey, pretty much forced Inter players going into the half time with a 0-0 draw.

The home team improved their attacking thread a bit in the second half as Inter seemed to re-start their period rather slowly, allowing Genoa making more threats in front of Julio Cesar’s goal. A controversial event arrived 10 minutes into the second period as the home team had a goal disallowed as the referee thought there were some pushing happening inside the penalty area just before Granqvist headed the ball into the Nerazzurri’s net.

Luck obviously wasn’t on Genoa’s side, as soon after having their goal being disallowed , they conceded through Nagatomo’s header. The Japanese defender was left unmarked in the penalty area and despite not being the tallest man on the pitch, the gets up his head well in anticipating a cross from Ricky Alvarez.

The goal opened the match a little bit as Genoa were forced to attack more and eventually left several spaces in the back, which unfortunately wasn’t being maximized well enough by Inter’s front liners. Alberto Malesani’s side themselves did get several chances to equalized, especially near the end of the match, when Marco Rossi had his shot blocked by a combination of Nagatomo and Cesar, while Miguel Veloso’s follow through also got saved by the Nerazzurri’s Brazilian keeper.
