Flamini Eyes Extension With Milan and Europe Glory

DSCF0967Having his contract with Ac Milan closing to expire in June 2012, doesn’t seem worrying for French midfielder, Mathieu Flamini, as the player believes that he will be staying with the Rossoneri longer than his current deal.

Flamini is expecting to extend his current deal with Milan but the midfielder isn’t rushing things as he does have at least one more season to finish before thinking about getting a new deal with the fashion capital side.

According to reports, Flamini might need to wait until the end of 2011/2012 season before talking any new contract with the Rossoneri as that was the approach that Massimiliano Allegri’s team took this season with other players with expiring contracts. The French midfielder himself doesn’t seem to mind should that happen as he wants to give his focus more on the team’s achievement in the upcoming season rather than thinking about a new deal as just yet.

“It is my intention to remain at this club and extend my agreement with Milan. There is no rush though, we will speak in the future when the right time has arrived,” Flamini said to Corriere dello Sport. “After winning the League title this year, I want to try to win the Champions League next.”

Despite of his intention to extend the agreement with Milan, Flamini’s future has actually been questioned by the media simply because of his soon to be expired contract, resulting in rumors about the departure of the Frenchman this summer so the Rossoneri can cash in on the midfielder instead of losing him for free in 2012. However, the ex-Arsenal man does look very keen on staying with the Red and Black squad, especially since he gets quite a trust from Allegri this season in becoming one of the most used midfield players in the fashion capital team’s setup.

The one obstacle that somewhat could trouble’s Flamini’s plan in extending his contract with Milan is pretty much his high wages, which was earned by the player due to his arrival from the Gunners in a free transfer, few years ago. The Rossoneri are known to set up a much more balance wages structure with the star players usually the ones getting improved and higher salary and considering the Frenchman hasn’t really been a ‘star’ during his spell at Milanello so far, unless he improves in the upcoming season, the Red and Black squad might only willing to offer new contract with lover wage.
