Double Trouble For Inter

samuel eto'oReigning Italian Serie A champion, Inter Milan, still unable to lift themselves from their recent slump as the Nerazzurri slipped even more down the table after being defeated by Chievo 2-1 last Sunday.

Sergio Pellisier and Davide Moscardelli goals are more than enough to keep Rafael Benitez’s side stumble as they can only pulled a goal back from the always available Samuel Eto’o , who controversially would’ve not stayed in the field because head-butting incident earlier on.

Arriving from a bitter defeat in the derby against Ac Milan last weekend, Inter players seemed to lose their confidence as Chievo looked more dominant in their play, creating plenty of chances before finally scoring through Pellisier’s header midway in the first period. However, the excitement happened few minutes after that goal as Eto’o and Chievo defender, Cesar, got into a scuffle which eventually leads to the Cameroon international head-butting the Slovenian center back on the chest.

Fortunately for the away side, the “Materazzi-Zidane lookalike” incident somehow escaped the referee and linesman sights as Eto’o walks away without getting any cards from the officials although TV evidence is available to provide banning decisions. Back to the game, Inter started the second half with pretty much the same manner as the first as Chievo still looked to be the more dangerous side with their counter attacking football. After missing few chances to finish of the game, the home team finally gets the killer blow eight minutes before the final 90 after Moscardelli tapped in Rigoni’s low cross.

Despite being lucky to stay on the field, Eto’o did proved his worth at the end of the game as he went slaloming pass four defenders before netting a consolation goal for his team. The late goal didn’t provide anything aside from restoring a bit of pride for the Nerazzurri, although that could also be the ex-Barcelona striker’s last goal in the next three Serie A games as he could face a suspension after today’s match.

With the Champions League action back on their schedule this midweek, the defeat will definitely give plenty of problems for Inter especially since they are still hampered with Injuries that doesn’t get any better. The treble winner problems in the league could also get worse if the Lega Calcio does eventually punish Eto’o for his unsporting behavior in the game, considering the Nerazzurri’s huge dependency to the Cameroon striker, it will be a difficult task for them should he be suspended in the next few games.
