Champions League Recap: Serie A Squads

Juventus-Bordeaux

Juventus was within twenty minutes of taking home a victory over the French squad thanks to a goal from Iaquinta in the 63rd minute, but in the 75th minute the game would become a 1-1 draw and it would remain that way until the final whistle.  Next Juve will play Bayern Munich and the Italians need to win.

AC Milan-Marseille

Milan was able to turn some heads by bouncing back from some mediocre Serie A football by edging out the strong French squad 2-1.  Filippo Inzaghi would be the man of the match scoring in both halves including the game winner in the 74th minute.  Leonardo’s squad will face FC Zurich in the next match coming up at the end of the month.

Fiorentina-Lyon

Fiorentina would be the first Italian squad to lose at this portion of the Champions League schedule.  Lyon was simply too much for the squad to handle in a 1-0 defeat.  Alberto Gilardino did not help matters any with his red card at the end of the first half and Fiorentina suffered the loss by being forced to play a man down for the entire second half.  The Italian club needs to bounce back against Liverpool in their next match.

Inter-Barcelona

All the hype surrounding this game could not muster any goals.  In what will likely be one of the most disappointing big matches of the year, both potent offenses sputtered in this one and by the final whistle neither club could score.   0-0 was the final and both clubs will look for their first win later in the month.  Inter will play FK Rubin Kazan in their next match.
