Cavani's Season Ends In A Bleak

Edinson Cavani | IMG_1214Napoli’s ambition in finishing the league as runners up behind Ac Milan looks to face a major difficulty as after losing another ground from Inter Milan with the defeat suffered against Lecce last Sunday, the Partenopei will be playing without their top scorer Edinson Cavani, for the remaining fixtures.

The striker, who was sent off against Lecce after receiving two yellow cards, apparently received further punishment from the discipline committee after the striker showed a disrespectful manner towards the referee as he received the marching order.

Reports from Italy stated that Cavani was spotted given an ironic tap in the referee’s back after he got his second yellow card in the game against Lecce, this kind of behavior has been regarded as a quite punishable thing in Serie A as Zlatan Ibrahimovic previously received the same length of ban due to insulting the linesman. As for Napoli’s Uruguayan striker, his reaction towards the match designator is probably fueled by the striker’s frustration in missing the upcoming important match against Inter.

However, now this attitude has pretty much gives nothing more than big problems for Napoli as Cavani will also miss out on the Southern Italy club’s last league game along with next season’s opening match . Not only decreasing this team’s chance in getting the second place position, the Uruguayan’s ban also means that he won’t be able to achieve his dream in finishing the league as the top scorer considering his current 26 goals tally have already been surpassed by his competitor, Antonio Di Natale, who could still add his collection in the next two league games.

Simply a foolish act of frustration from Cavani which gives a rather bleak ending to his pretty amazing season so far, as the Uruguayan simply gave up his ambition in becoming the league top scorer this season. Moreover, with Napoli’s unconvincing record when playing without either of Cavani, Marek Hamsik and Ezequiel Lavezzi, the Partenopei fans might also close their dream in surpassing Inter as the league’s runners up this season. A much worse scenario could even make them lose their current third place, should the Southern club lose their next two matches, while the current fourth place, Udinese won all of their remaining fixtures.
