2010/11 Serie A Preview

The Italian Serie A season gets underway this weekend after a 3 month break with some very mouth watering fixtures key among them being the Udinese v Genoa, Fiorentina v Napoli and Sampdoria v Lazio matches.

This will however not be like any other previous season as the strategic buying that most clubs employed means that the league will be more competitive than previously thought. A good example would have to be Juventus.

While Inter still remain as favourites to repeat their epic treble, the Bianconeri cannot be ruled out especially after acquiring some very talented players. Milos Krasic, Simone Pepe and Leonardo Bonucci are just a few of these players.

David Trezeguet Waiting For Lazio’s Call

Grazie DavidThe future of David Trezeguet in Juventus once again takes another twist as after earlier this month things seems to goes well and he would probably stay in Turin, this days reports stated that the striker is surely leaving the club.

Trezeguet’s agent, Antonio Caliendo, was the one that confirm that with the player’s exclusion from Juventus’ squad that will be facing Sturm Graz today it can be confirmed that the former Monaco striker will leave.

The agent also hinted that currently there are two clubs that could be the former French international striker’s destination for the upcoming season, those clubs are Lazio and Hercules.

According to the Italian media the Manchester City striker has become a new candidate to fill the Aquiloti’s striking department for the upcoming season after the capital club finds it difficult to land Hugo Almeida.

Inter 3 Bologna 0In 1994 when Serie A moved to three points for a win, Inter have gained more points than any other team. The Nerazzurri earned a total of 1078 points in 568 matches, which averages just under two points per match (1.897).

The pace they set in the last six years with Mancini (in his first four years) and then with Mourinho is impressive— 496 points in 288 matches, with a 2.19 point average, higher than Manchester United’s in the Premier League (2.15).

The Biancoceleste’s success in acquiring the 25-years-old player’s signature is somewhat of a shocking news for football fans as the Brazilian international previously was heavily linked with bigger clubs such as Ac Milan and Inter.

Lazio Captain Rocchi Stays With Club

Controversial Lazio skipper Tommaso Rocchi is set to remain with the club after President Claudio Lotito revealed that despite attracting interest from Genoa and Palermo, the striker is determined to continue with the capital club.

Lazio is traditionally considered as of Italy’s strong club’s, however, le Aquile have experienced a difficult few seasons  in the league climaxing last summer when a number of their stars decided to call it quits and look for greener pastures.

Manchester City have completed the signing of Lazio left-back Aleksandar Kolarov after agreeing an £14.1 million deal.

Roberto Mancini spoke to the Man City’s web site regradging the new signing, and confirmed that Kolarov’s arrival doesn’t mean that Wayne Bridge will be leaving Eastlands:“I want two top class players for each position,”

Mancini became aware of Kolarov’s ability when he managed Inter Milan in Seria A. The Italian revealed he had been admirer of the Serbian even back then:

The latest inclusion that hit the Italian media is that the Rossoneri is back on the race to sign Lazio’s midfielder, Cristian Ledesma, who last season has also been linked with the red and black squad.

cassettiThis weekend’s round of fixtures proved to be a mouth-watering affair. On Saturday night Juventus played host to Inter Milan who they eventually beat 2-1 to cut down the champions lead over them to just 5 points.

Earlier on, Ac milan beat Sampdoria 3-0 at the San Siro. Their star player Ronaldinho was once again at the heart of every Milan attack and he showed just why he is an integral part of Leonardo’s long term plans. The Brazilian maestro supplied two crosses that eventually led to 2 of Milan’s goals.
