Juventus centre-back Giorgio Chiellini will miss the first leg of the Italian club’s UEFA Europa League round of 16 tie with Fulham on Thursday but could be back for the return in London next week after a scan revealed that his left thigh injury is less serious than first feared.
The 25-year-old suffered the injury during the 2-1 victory at Fiorentina on Saturday, but analysis revealed no serious damage to any muscles. The Italy centre-back, who has contested 25 games in Serie A and six in Europe this term with Juve, will be out of action for about a week. Roma were eliminated from Europe’s second tier club competition last night when they lost 2-3 to visiting Panathinaikos at the Olympic Stadium in Rome. The Giallarosso were again beaten by a similar margin which effectively knocked them out and handed Panathinaikos a comfortable 6-4 aggregate win.
A goal would have been enough to ensure a safe passage for the Romans and things were looking good for the Giallorosso when Riise gave them the lead in the 11th minute after his side were awarded an indirect free-kick. His goal bound shot however, deflected off defender Stergos Marinos to beat Alexandros Tzorvas. Read more... (337 words, 3 images, estimated 1:21 mins reading time)
Juventus play a tricky away fixture to Dutch club Ajax Amsterdam tonight in the Europa league and their coach Alberto Zaccheroni will be wary of the threat this former European powerhouse can pose to his side.
Tonight’s game will be a contrast of sorts for both these 2 sides. Juventus come into this match with memories of their humiliating 4-1 loss to Bayern Munich in Turin that effectively knocked them out of the Champions league while their hosts Ajax qualified for the last 32 of Europe’s second tier club competition by virtue of finishing 2nd behind Belgian club Anderlecht in Group A. I bet Juve’s management must be in panic mode after another loss in the league. Just a couple of days ago they were on record saying that Ferrara will continue on as coach despite losing to Chievo Verona
They must really be wishing they never made such a statement. Last night, Juventus hosted AS Roma in another top flight match that saw the Romans win 2-1.
Juventus took the lead through Alessandro Del Piero in the 51st minute.Del Piero volleyed a left footer into the far corner of Julio Sergio’s goal to put the Bianconeri in front. Juventus got the break they so dearly needed when they beat Parma 2-1 at the Stadio Ennio Tardini yesterday. However, don’t let the score line fool you. The Bianconeri needed an own goal to help them bag all the 3 points.

After a rather short break, the Italian Serie A resumes today with a round of entertaining fixtures. In my opinion, the highlight of these fixtures will be the Parma vs Juventus Fixture. 5th place Parma host 2nd place Juvenus at the Stadio Ennio Tardini at 2145hrs local time tonight in a match that Juve have to win to keep up with both the Milan teams.
Juventus have a slim 2 point advantage over Parma and another negative result will leave club president Jean Claude Blanc with no option other than sacking head coach Ciro Ferrara. Ferrara has had a run of bad luck ever since Bayern Munich thrashed them 4-1 in Turin to bundle them out of the Champions League. Read more... (358 words, 2 images, estimated 1:26 mins reading time)
Juventus seem to be actively searching for a coach who can guide the team to a decent finish in this season’s Serie A title campaign. After being bundled out of the Champions League and subsequently displaying poor results in the league, Juventus coach Ciro Ferrara’s future in Turin is surely coming to an end.
After failing to convince former Brazilian National coach Luiz Felipe Scolari to join the Bianconeri, Juve have now turned to Hiddink. There is no doubt that Guus is an exceptional coach. His success rate is very impressive and this Dutch magic might just be what Juve need to improve their image. Read more... (298 words, 3 images, estimated 1:12 mins reading time)

Another bad result from Juventus on Sunday left their coach Ciro Ferrara with more questions than answers. The Turin outfit are now 9 points of the pace set by their rivals Inter Milan and their hopes of lifting the scudetto this season are getting dimmer with every game they play.
You would have thought that after losing their last fixture to Bari, Juventus would up their game and win against Catania who by the way are 2nd last in the league. To make matters worse for the Bianconerri, they were beaten in their own stadium. Juventus are no longer the dominant force in Italian football even their fans are not happy with their performances.
