Mutu And Donadel Both Leave Fiorentina

Thursday was a tough day for Fiorentina fans as Romania striker Adrian Mutu left to join Cesena while midfielder Marco Donadel left to sign for Napoli.

Former Chelsea striker Mutu fell out with Fiorentina bosses last season after being questioned over a bar brawl and then walking out on training when an original January move to Cesena was blocked. He has eventually got his way and moves on a two-year contract to the north-eastern Italian club, who surprised a lot of pundits by avoiding relegation last season.

The Gazzetta Della Sport had an interesting article on the number of co-ownership deals that need to be decided by 24 June.

What is co-ownership? Co-ownership is a system whereby two clubs own the contract of a player jointly – each having a half share, although the player is only registered to play for one club. It is known as “compartecipazione ” and is also common in Argentina, Chile, and Uruguay.

D’Agostino Hoping For A Fiorentina Stay

175464_0005_2913092.jpgHaving a rather difficult season with plenty of injuries troubling him, Fiorentina’s Gaetano D’Agostino’s future at the club looks a bit uncertain since he only managed 12 starts this season and with his co-ownership status with Udinese, there’s always a chance that he might return to Friuli.

However, according to D’agostino’s agent, Paolo Rodella, stated that his client is much more keen on continuing his adventure with the Viola next season instead of returning with the Bianconeri.

Montolivo Reject Fiorentina Extension

179545_0097_3014411After being given an ultimatum by Fiorentina’s coach, Sinijsa Mihaljovic to immediately make a decision regarding his future at the club, the Viola’s captain, Riccardo Montolivo, finally revealed that he won’t extend his expiring contract with the club.

The captain stated that his current deal that will end in 2012 wont be renewed but still the midfielder hasn’t decided whether to leave the Florence based club or not next season.

Acknowledging the unpleasantness of the situation, the Viola’s coach, Sinijsa Mihajlovic, asked Montolivo to immediately make up his mind as the tactician doesn’t want the captain’s unclarity effect the team’s plan next season.

Napoli’s Title Hopes Ended By Udinese

Napoli’s title hopes are all but over after they shockingly lost 2-1 at home to Udinese.

Napoli, who had won their last four league matches to climb back into the title race, were undone by strikes from Gökhan Inler (55) and former Napoli forward Germán Denis (61). Although Giuseppe Mascara pulled a goal back in added time, Napoli’s night was summed up when Edinson Cavani’s penalty was saved by Samir Handanovič.

Napoli are six points back of leaders AC Milan with five games to go. A lead that I cannot see Milan throwing away.

Fiorentina Ready To Start Talk Again With Montolivo

Grazie Presidente!!!Despite all of the previous rumors surrounding him lately, Ricardo Montolivo’s future may still remain at Florence especially after the latest statement from Fiorentina’s owner, Andrea Della Vale saying that the club will be fighting to keep their captain there.

Della Vale confirm that another contract talk with Montoliv is set to be held at the end of April and the patron will be working hard in convincing the Italian international to stay at Fiorentina.
