As Roma’s new signing, Marco Borriello, made the headline after making a surprising switch from Ac Milan to the capital club just few hours before the transfer window closed despite being heavily linked with Juventus not long before that.
Revealing his decision to the press, Borriello stated that one of the main reasons he choses to play for the Giallorossi instead of Juve was because the persuasive text message send to him by Daniele De Rossi.
“I said no to Juventus because I am a sensible person and when I heard the President speak and I read the text message from De Rossi which gave me goosebumps, I immediately accepted,” Borriello said. “He text me to tell me to come here and ended with ‘we are going to win’.” Read more... Many Milan fans are very excited that Galliani and Berluscni have finally heard their pleas and cries and signed players who could win them trophies. There is no doubt that the Rossoneri are looking very strong on all fronts this season, however, before writing off other teams, it is important to note that Inter Milan, Juventus, AS Roma and the chasing pack of Napoli, Palermo, Sampdoria Fiorentina, Genoa and Lazio won’t yield the title to Milan or any other team for that matter without a fight. Well, i have to say, this was one result i did not expect. If anyone told me that newly promoted Cesena would snatch a point from the Giallorosso on opening day of the Serie A season at the Stadio Olimpico, i would not have believed it. However, in football anything is possible and Cesena proved that they truly deserve their place in Italian top flight football.
A barren draw for last season’s league runners up is not the perfect start we all expected from Roma. But if it is any comfort, the Giallorosso did not have the best of starts last season either. In fact, up until January, nobody even consider Roma a threat. Read more... (326 words, 1 image, estimated 1:18 mins reading time)

One of the longest transfer saga in the Serie A has finally ended after As Roma have finally find an agreement with Inter Milan to sign their whole summer target, Nicolas Burdisso.
According to the media in Italy, the Argentinian player have finally been brought to Roma with a fee around 8 million that will be paid in three installment.
This purchasing have been waited for a while by Roma especially their coach,Claudio Ranieri, who is a keen admirer of Burdisso, surely the official signing would give a boost for the club that will start their season later today against Cesena. The Italian Serie A season gets underway this weekend after a 3 month break with some very mouth watering fixtures key among them being the Udinese v Genoa, Fiorentina v Napoli and Sampdoria v Lazio matches.
This will however not be like any other previous season as the strategic buying that most clubs employed means that the league will be more competitive than previously thought. A good example would have to be Juventus.
While Inter still remain as favourites to repeat their epic treble, the Bianconeri cannot be ruled out especially after acquiring some very talented players. Milos Krasic, Simone Pepe and Leonardo Bonucci are just a few of these players. Read more... (381 words, estimated 1:31 mins reading time)

AS Roma are the only Italian side that seem to have been handed a fairly easy Group. The capital club was placed in Group E alongside Bayern Munich, Basel and Romanian outfit Cluj.
It is not hard to see both Bayern and Roma progressing from this group, however, Swiss side Basel cannot be ruled out. Much like Rubin Kazan (who again meet Barcelona), Basel is one of the few teams that many take notice of. That said, Basel did reach the quarter final stage of the Champions League in the 05/06 season and should be treated with some respect should they cause one of the biggest upsets this season. According to most people, Roma is still the only team that can challenge Inter for the scudetto. Sure,Inter are the favourites to defend the Serie A title again, however, Milan, Juventus, Fiorentina, Sampdoria Napoli and Genoa cannot be ruled out.
The Giallorosso threw away their comfortable lead in the dying stages of last season to see rivals Inter pip them to their record breaking 5th straight scudetto. The Romans have been largely quiet in the transfer market with only the signings of a few players and if reports emerging from the capital are to be believed, then Roma fans have reason to smile as their towering striker Julio Baptista has apparently turned down a 14 million Euro transfer to Turkish club Galatasary. Adriano’s plan to start against his former club, Inter Milan, in the upcoming Italian Super Cup match is in doubt after the latest report from Italy stated that the Brazilian striker will probably be benched for that game.
Reports claim that Giallorossi’s coach, Claudio Ranieri, is very disappointed with Adriano’s current showing in training and would consider to bench him against Inter.
Ranieri’s disappointment with the Brazilian striker can be spotted by his reaction at Roma’s training ground where he was seen frequently yelling at the ex-Flamengo player. Read more... (279 words, 2 images, estimated 1:07 mins reading time)

In 1994 when Serie A moved to three points for a win, Inter have gained more points than any other team. The Nerazzurri earned a total of 1078 points in 568 matches, which averages just under two points per match (1.897).
The pace they set in the last six years with Mancini (in his first four years) and then with Mourinho is impressive— 496 points in 288 matches, with a 2.19 point average, higher than Manchester United’s in the Premier League (2.15).
