A Close Call

La segunda mano de diosInter Milan managed to restore a bit of Italian pride after successfully earning the tree point against their visitor Tottenham Hotspurs on Wednesday, however the match that looked like a stroll in the park turns out to be a close call in the end.

Getting an early goal and a man up less than 15 minutes into the first period allowing Inter to end the first half with a flattering 4-0 scoreline, however by the end of the match the score changed to 4-3 after Gareth Bale brought the visitor alive.

Inter started the match in a very convincing fashion although Spurs’ nervy attitude isn’t really helping the visitor at all as the London club concede the first goal in just after two minutes after the Nerazzurri’s veteran captain, Javier Zanetti. Things gets even worse for the EPL side in just few minutes after that first goal as they have to play with 10 man and faced a penalty after their keeper fouled Jonathan Biabiany in the penalty box.

Samuel Eto’o went on to score the penalty, beating Spurs’ reserve keeper, Carlo Cudicini who was probably a bit annoyed about failing to catch the spot kick. Playing with one man more it’s surely makes things easier for Inter as just before the first half ended they add two more goals from Dejan Stankovic and Eto’o again, making his goal tally rises this season.

However, the interesting part started in the second period when Gareth Bale seems to find a spark out of nowhere as he runs the show in that half scoring three goals that give the scarce at San Siro by the end. Although some might argued that those goals happened more because Inter were already leading, still is the effect of the three consolation goals might have an effect on the second meeting at White Hart Lane.

The Nerazzurri might get a lesson from the game but Spurs also have huge moral boost with the result as they will feel that the Italian giant are not that more superior and can be attacked. One thing for sure the second match between the two teams could be a much more interesting encounter especially should the EPL side managed to transform their confidence in the field in two weeks time.
