2009/2010 SATO Serie A Predictions

#12: Cagliari

Cagliari should not be too disappointed with a result of twelfth place, last season was the first year in a long time the squad has even gotten into the top ten.  The three seasons before last Cagliari was a near relegation club finishing in 14th, 16th, and 14th respectively.  This year the club will begin their downward spiral towards the relegation zone.

#11:  Udinese

Udinese has been an impressive club the last few years, but their luck may soon run out.  Udinese seems to be another example of a club that is unwilling to pony up the big bucks and bring in some high quality to players to at least replace the players they have lost.  Losing Fabio Quagliarella should hurt the squad and rumors have D’Agostino on the move as well.

#10 Palermo

Palermo is coming off of a pretty solid 8th place finish last year and hopes to remain a top eight team next year.  We at the SATO feel that the club did not improve enough in the off season and will likely remain in the territory that they finished last year.  The club could use one more striker to compliment Miccoli and Cavani (who each had 14 goals last year), but new coach Walter Zenga of Catania will have his fair share of problems next year.

#9: Napoli

Napoli is one of the rise this upcoming year and will be back into the top ten squads in Serie A.  Fabio Quagiarella is a great addition to the squad’s offense and he should fit in nicely with Marek Hamsik and Ezequiel Lavezzi (as long as Lavezzi stays).  Napoli should be one of the most improved offenses next season and will likely improve on last year’s mark of only 43 goals for the entire season.
