2009/2010 SATO Serie A Predictions

Best Club

Inter is the team to beat in 2009/2010.  The club led the league in every critical statistic (points earned, goals scored, goals conceded, total wins) and although they lost the SATO Serie A MVP, they were given the projected Serie A MVP for 2009/2010.  Eto’o has something to prove this year and it just might be Inter’s year to pull off the Champions League with a clutch late season run.  But at a minimum look for Diego Milito and Eto’o to score 40 combined goals and win the Serie A title.

Best Offense

Inter clearly looks like the strongest offensive power this upcoming year, but I’m gonna give the projected award to AC Milan simply because I am tired of rambling on about Eto’o and Inter.  Milan will most likely start off the season slowly, but look for Leonardo’s club to pick up steam as the season progresses and by season’s end they should be one of the best offenses in the league.  The recent move for Real Madrid’s Klaas Jan Huntelaar was a great addition plus this is a club that still has threats like Ronaldinho, Inzaghi, and Pato.  The club will miss Kaka, but still have a lot of firepower left over.

Best Defense

Juventus had some great additions this off season including goal scoring threat Diego, but their best addition was Madrid’s Fabio Cannavaro to the defense.  At 35 the Italian great doesn’t have many years left in the tank, but the guy can still play in at least 30 games for the club this season. The club also brought in Martin Caceres from Barcelona.  Caceres is more of a developing player.  He is only 22 and started in 8 matches for the treble winning club.  Juventus also has arguably the best keeper in the world in Buffon and three returning defenders that started in over 25 matches last season (Grygera, Molinaro, Legrottaglie).  So Juventus should keep the ball out of the net this upcoming year.
